Fish in the B&B room, just like home!
Ok, so, I don't have fish at home. What I have are cats, one white, and red (orange), both Persians. I miss them when away from home terribly.

When we checked into the B&B; we stayed at a few weeks ago, our hostess was showing us around, and she introduced us to the resident fish. They were in a big, open top stoneware fountain.

When we got close, they came up to greet us, the white one, and the orange one! They greeted us the same way my babies do at home.

Being Persians they tend not to make a lot of noise, and open and close their mouths to meow, but no sound comes out.

Which is just how the fist greeted us. Wanting food they opened and closed their mouths, no sound, just waiting for their food. Just like home. The fish were good size, not surprising. I'm sure the other guests enjoyed feeding them as much as we did.

I might have to give some thought to caring for fish now

What an awesome surprise, Meowmie ! ! It sounds like they must have had some large Koi there, to be so friendly. I have never had any of these awesome fish, but i have seen them in the stores that sell pond supplies and fish, and they are so beautiful and also friendly.
I had a friend in Idaho that had a pond with Koi in it, and they would come right up to the top and almost talk to him to get some attention and some food from him. Bud has made a nice sitting area near the pond, so he and his wife could sit there and enjoy watching the fish swimming around.
It is a good ting that those Koi didn't know that "Uncle Bud's" favorite sport was fishing, or maybe they would not have been so happy to see him when Bud and Maryanne came out to sit by the pond in the evenings.....

Yes, I think they were Koi, I knew there was a name for them besides goldfish. They do look like monster goldfish. I'm not very familiar with non furry pets, goldfish and angelfish are the only ones I think I know by name, UNLESS you get into northern pike and walleye, but I don't know anyone that keeps them for pets.

We have a store here that specializes in outdoor furnishing, fountains, ect as well as outdoor ponds and supplies. They have a building that is full of huge above ground ponds filled with Koi and different kinds of goldfish. They are all different size fish. The huge Koi are so beautiful, and you are allowed to feed them with a special food they have on hand. The Koi will actually come to the surface and suck on your fingers thinking they are food.

I have always loved goldfish, and would love to have an outdoor pond with some larger goldfish in it. I think that they are not nearly as expensive as the koi fish are, and they are very beautiful as well.
When I was growing up, we had a big laundry tub outside in the back yard, and my mom had several of the larger goldfish in there. They were at least 6" long, and we had some seaweed and other plants and rocks in the tub for them to swim around and hide in the weeds.
Once, when my kids were younger, we had some goldfish that we got at the pet store, and we kept those outside in the summer in the horse trough. They did great in there, staying near the bottom where it was cooler during the heat of the day, and then coming up in the mornings and evenings to eat the bugs and mosquitoes that fell into the water.
