A lady moved and she gave away her cat before she left for the new home. Somehow the cat was able to locate and arrive at the new house which was more than 6 miles away from the old house. The cat had never been to the new house.
Absolutely heart warming! Cats have really good navigational skills apparently, years ago Elmo (our now deceased cat) vanished for a week and I became utterly distraught and went all over our neighborhood and people miles away said they saw and fed him. One night I heard meowing at the front door and he returned, I started sobbing and hugged him tightly.
I have read similar stories, and no one really understands how our pets can find us when we move; sometimes traveling many miles to get there; and like this story, the cat even went to a place where it had never been before.
What is even stranger is how some animals simply get out of the back yard gate, and can't find there way back home. It is not that the dogs don't want to come home, or that the owners aren't missing them as much, one way as the other; because most of the lost dogs have frantic owners looking for them whether the dog is able to find its way home or not.
I guess that some animals simply are able to "tune-in" to where they live better than other ones are. Regardless of how they do it; it is truly amazing ! !
