Dog Food: What's your call?
Are you into raw diets, commercial or premium grade?

Kibble or Canned?

Who gets to decide? The dog or the owner? Do you wait for your dog to eventually eat what you have on his dog bowl or do you decide to change it you feel he doesn't like it?

I feed my dogs a mixture of commercial kibble and raw food. Sometimes I add a couple of boiled meat, vegetables or fruits with it.

I've never tried canned food because it can gets spoiled easily compared to kibble.

Lastly, although I decide what kind of dog food- nutrition wise- my dogs eat, I change it once in a while because they've learned to be picky-not eating for an entire day.

RE: Dog Food: What's your call?
My dog gets vegetables as snacks, but she gets dry dog food for meals. I've tried to buy the best quality for a reasonable price (i.e. a price I can afford).

I am the one that decides what she eats. I've been very fortunate that the last two dogs I've had were not particular about their food. They ate whatever I fed them. I trained all my dogs to eat the food at meal times. If they don't want to eat, I pick it up after a few minutes. In this way, they have learned that they must eat at the specified times.

My Jack Russell eats her food in about 10 seconds. You would think I never fed her. She is not picky, so I don't have to worry about trying new foods.

I've never given my dogs canned dog food. I think it looks gross and smells repulsive. If they need a soft food, you can add water to dry food and let it sit for a few minutes. I did this for my Lab as she got older. The veterinarian said it would be easier for her to digest.

That's how I do it, too. If they don't eat it. It gets picked up. My other dogs, the one we've adopted from other homes, eat fast (like your JRT). It's a good thing they aren't prone to bloat. Because if they were, we would've needed to switch into those slow feeding bowls.

Have you ever tried feeding your dogs premium food?
