I know how you feel. I have a 2 year old German Shepard and he is quite a vocal pup but that is in his breed. He barks at anything and everything. The worst is in the car and he barks at the windshield wipers when they are turned on. It drives me crazy that's for sure. I have been trying to teach him good barking from bad barking. When we are at home and he stands up and starts barking I tell him "Good boy" ..he is alerting me to something that he hears. But after I tell him "quiet" because he did good for alerting me but now it's tell to stop. It's all about training. You have to let your pup know when it's ok to bark and when it's not. It's a lot of work. I'm still trying to achieve this myself but he has gotten a lot better. Next is the car and I know that one is going to be hard! Good luck with your pup!

RE: How to avoid from Dog barking ?
Barbie is my favorite dog not because she is the only female of my 3 dogs but she is the most affectionate to me. So you can expect me to bring her along whenever I can. Even when we go on vacations to beach resorts, I try to wangle a permit with the resort manager to allow me with my dogs. But now Barbie's bad trait is getting dominant - she is an incessant barker when she sees another animal. Although she doesn't always bark at people, but she barks at children. When Barbie and Pipoy were 1 year old, we hired a trainer who spent 3 months, 3 times a week, in training both puppies. But when the sessions were done, the learning was not evident.

It seems that Barbie cannot be stopped when she barks at something. I can see anger in her eyes and sometimes she even yelps with anger. I am planning of hiring another dog trainer just for her barking. What do you think?

RE: How to avoid from Dog barking ?
Barking is a means of communication just like we humans talk or shout. So it is not kind or humane to ban a dog from barking. The problem is that some dogs bark excessively to the point of being a nuisance. One of the best ways to stop dogs from barking is exposure. If you pen a dog most of the time, he would become hostile since he has been used to marking his personal space. There is also the technique of behavioural correction. Dogs are intelligent creatures and rewarding the canine every time it lies on the ground and penning it every time it barks unreasonably will work.
