Some, umm... reptile forum type humor
I don't normally pass along the reptile forum type humor here, but this is one of the funniest things I've seen in awhile.

Warning: This may not be for the easily offended. Its not that bad, but there are some possibly offensive subtitles in the video, and it is making fun of nazis, so....

If you don't get it, I apologize, but if you have ever been to a reptile show/expo in the U.S, you will probably get it...

That video was overly used for all kinds of purposes lol. The last time I saw it on youtube was over the cancellation of a TV show. Big Grin

I know. This one cracked me up. I guess it really is kinda inside the reptile community type humor, so most people wouldn't really get it. I couldn't help but share though.

Oh my. Hahahahahaha it was a little rough around the edges but I definitely laughed at that one, especially after having seen a few baby purple ball morphs on sale for well over $200. But yeah, that video is used for so much...

$200? There are baby ball pythons of various morph combos at any show you go to for sale at well over $10,000. Then the breeders get upset that they don't sell, as allot of them get into it to make money, with no passion for the animals whatsoever. There is a company called ballbids, that runs a penny auction ball python site. And so far as is apparent, there its almost no evidence of them caring about the animals they are selling. I have no absolute evidence of any wrongdoing by them. This is a disclaimer, so they hopefully don't threaten to sue me too, as that is one thing they seem to be proficient at.

Point being, that there are enough people into breeding balls, that it is becoming the same as the puppy mills.

O.k. I'll get off of my soapbox now. [Image: soapbox.gif]

Haha, I used to own a ball python, and it wasn't until he died and saw how many others own them when I realized how popular they really were.

Well, I'm all for them being popular as pets. I've met a great many purple who's first snake was a ball, or who have a ball, love it. Its the breeders who are in it just for the money, end who pay show promoters extra to get in, sometimes at the cost of other smaller hobbyists. That's really the butt of the joke.

haha, i wished those "breeders" would realize, the more breeders there are for ball pythons, the less they are worth because they will become soo readily available..but people dont think like that anymore :/

I bought mine for $90 I think. So 12 years ago they were already common, or I didn't buy from a specialized breeder.

Well, at most of the shows, balls are priced from $25 - $15,000. Depending on morph or combination of morphs, age, sex, etc... The ball market its just silly. Plus, half of the breeders now are really just in it because they think it's a get rich scheme, syne of them seem to care nothing for the animals at all. Do a search for "ballbids". That's a good example of the problem.
