My dog's living room bed sits right in front of the TV stand. The stand is wood with a glass door. It isn't very tall.
I noticed for some time that Misha would look in the glass. Sometimes she would walk up to it and look at the reflection. Other times when she is laying in her bed she would turn to look in it.
For the longest time, I thought she was looking at herself. Maybe trying to figure out who that other dog was inside the box was. Then, it dawned on me. She was looking at us!
She can be very nosy. She often comes into the room if she hears my Mom and me talking. I noticed that when Misha would look in the glass it was when either we'd been talking or she had been asleep and she was sure if we were still there.
I know she can see me. I will wave and she will move her head. Sometimes she'll turn around and look directly at me. She doesn't wave back though.
Have you ever found your dog looking surreptitiously like this? Do you have a spy like Misha?
Both of my dogs keep an eye out for me. While out on a walk my dogs won't run too far away without turning around to make sure I am still there and still keeping an eye out on them, too. I love that they do that, they are very protective. However my rottweiler is a very nosy dog, she insists on knowing what everyone is up to and she will often make rounds of the house, going to each bedroom and sitting with the people in there for a little bit then moving on. My other dog used to do this all the time before he went to sleep, but now he is older he can't make it up the stairs as often, so he doesn't do it anymore.
They do spy occasionally like Misha. My rottie, Rosie will often be lurking near a doorway just to know what is going on, then if you turn around she will turn around too and act like she is just going the same way.
Our shi tzu, Anya, always keeps an eye on us. At random times, she just goes up to our room and stays there, lying down on the bed. Sometimes, when we sleep, she comes up the room and sleeps beside us - then in the morning she wakes us up at exactly 6am, and then goes down. Haha! This is a really adorable side of her.
My dog keeps her eye on me quite frequently. Well, most of the time its when I'm eating something, usually a burger or piece of meat. I get a big, concerned stare, like she's on the ready for me to start choking so she can deliver a canine version of the heimlich maneuver.
Both of my dogs keep an eye out for me, especially when my husband is not home. My husband has to leave for work pretty early, so he is usually out of bed before I am. When he leaves, my male dog will get into our bed and lay at the foot, facing the door. If am out of bed, and working, (I work from home) no matter where he is, he always lays facing our front door. I feel he does this to make sure no intruders come inside the house. As for my female, she is always right on top of me, and follows me everywhere, as if she is my bodyguard.
Yea my neo mastiff watches my every move. If i get in an argument with someone he'll freak out at them because he thinks they're trouble or something i guess. He thinks everybody wants to kill me. If miley cyrus came here he'd think she's trouble and he'll get afraid for me and freak out.
Chipper always watches me, and is usually right close beside me. He sleeps in his little playpen at nite now because I worry about him falling off of the bed and injuring himself, but he doesn't want to go to bed until I am going to bed ,too. if I put him into bed, and then don't get into bed myself, he will climb back out of the playpen and come and sit in the living room on his favorite chair until I do gt ready to go to bed.
The interesting thing is, even though Chipper can easily climb out of his playpen; he will stay in there as long as I am in the bed sleeping. When he wakes up in the morning and wants to go outside, he will jump up and down in the playpen until I get up and take him out of the playpen.
If I am cooking something, then he is always watching me, of course, and usually shares my meals with me.
