I think it is great that they are preserving this ancient breed as well. One of the veery oldest domestic dogs was the beautiful Afghan Hound. They , like the Indian Dog, used to stay around the camps of the native Afghans, and slowly became domesticated. I am sure that those original dogs were much different from the gorgeous show dogs that we see as an Afghan Hound now.
I friend of my daughter's was in the military and she brought home a dog from Afghanistan, and even though it didn't have the long coat, or the face of an Afghan Hound, I noticed that it did have the tail that curled just at the end like their do; so I think somewhere in the background, it was probably related.
