RE: Does your dog act sad before you leave to go somewhere?
One of our dogs would always try to stop my dad from going out. As soon as she realised he was trying to leave, she would go to the door (her sign that she needed a walk). My dad would try to take her outside for a walk and she would refuse to go out. Then, as soon as he took the collar off her, she would go to the door again! When my dad did finally manage to leave, she would sit in the corridor near the door and whine. Sometimes she would do this for a few minutes before going back to bed but sometimes (generally when it was warmer) she would sit there until he came back. I do remember that she once went to sleep near the door waiting for him to return. We had another dog who did not make any kind of a fuss when people left. She was rather calmer and less insecure generally. She would jump up and down and bark when we returned though. As she became older and found it difficult to stand and walk, she stopped doing that but she still looked up and you could see she was happy that you had come back.
