Often, especially in warm summer weather, a dog will get a yeast infection, and have what is called a "hot spot", a place on his back usually where he is constantly itching and scratching. Along with this, sometimes the ears and ft will be itchy and smelly.
Some people say that the paws smell like cheesy popcorn, or Fritos corn chips.
The yeast feed off of sugary type foods, which also includes most of the cereal grains; another good reason to make sure that your dog food does not have corn as one of the main ingredients.
You can spray apple cider vinegar on the hotspots, and it will dry them up, usually overnight. Dipping your dogs feet into a tub with vinegar and hydrogen peroxide solution will help if he is licking his paws.
