Can reptile pets recognize their home? If you do not use a cage or other types of enclosure, will some species of them stay at home without attempt to escape?

I remember in the movie Terminator, Sarah Connor had a pet lizard. It was not caged and it was left free roaming in the house.

yep. i used to free range some of my chameleons, which is just a couple trees and plants in the corner of a room. rarely ever did they stray from that area, and if they ever did, they quickly returned by nightfall Smile

Sounds like they don't move around much at all.
Do you leave them in a single closed room or let them wonder around the whole house? Do you close the door and the windows?

they move around, but they usually try and stay where they're comfortable. i usually leave the windows open, but there is screen, but they love to sit in the windows and bask in the sunlight. normally i leave my door open, but i have to be careful about the cat and dog, neither of them bother the chams much, but theres always the possibility of an accident. about 2 years ago i had a panther cham who roamed the whole house like it was his, but he always returned to his free range at night. i had to keep an eye out though for stink bugs and ladybugs, both of which are poisonous and which killed him Sad since then, i try and keep my hobby in my room lol
