Does a fat dog make you want to lose weight?

Well, Lucy Insley took one look at the picture of herself with her pug, Gracie, and realised just how big she had become. Then she started on a weight-loss program and ended up like this:

According to what I have read, her pug, Gracie, also lost weight together with her. Actually she said Gracie was the main motivation in her weight-loss program.

How about you? Does the sight of a fat dog make you take a closer look at your own size and decide to lose weight?

No.

To be honest, I haven't seen any fat dogs. Most dogs are quite energetic. It is hard for them to get overweight. Cats on the other hand, many of them sleep all day and it is easier to build up body fat that way.

I also can't lose any more weight. I am already down to 146lbs, for 5'11" I am skinny. I used to be 194lbs at peak time which was about 2 years ago. Too much white fish soup and BBQ ribs back then. I could show people my photos from 2~3 years ago and say that's my brother, I don't think anyone would suspect it's me lol.

I've seen a couple of overweight dogs. Last time we went to the veterinarian, there was this lethargic looking chihuahua who was heavier than Chooey. She was smaller than Chooey but weighed .2 kilos more. The poor thing was being over fed and spoiled by her masters. The next day we got there, we saw her on IV. She had liver problems- probably for being overfed.

Fortunately, we no longer need to keep tabs on their dog. If they aren't thin (for being a picky eater), they're too active that the food they eat is being utilized by their bodies.

It's funny, you know, my fiancee always said that people get pets that are similar to them. It's interesting that you posted your photo because it essentially proves her point yet again.

Looking at a dog's weight would not want me to lose weight, but at the most make my pet more fit. But then again, I would just love my pet for who he or she is and not what other animals are like!

Dogs can get very fat just like people.

All you have to do is to keep on feeding them non-stop and then let them just sleep the rest of the time. There's one breed, though, which might be a bit difficult to get fat. This is the Doberman.

The Doberman is bred specifically with a deep chest and a slim waist. I suspect that the Doberman has also got very short intestines. I remember taking Dark Lady, my Doberman, for her run in the morning and she would eat some grass. Then half-an-hour later, when we get back home, I find that the grass has already come out in her feces.
