Hi all,
I just had to share the news. I have had a mated pair of angelfish for a while now in my 125gal planted tank. They have had several batches of eggs this year they have tried to protect but they never lasted more than a couple days. I figured it was my placo that was getting them but who knows.
Anyway, I now have about 50 little angelfish fry. The parents are moving them back and forth between two different locations. They are just a day fully out of their eggs. I know we still have a long way to go but I’m hoping a few of them make it. I don’t have the equipment to move them to their own tank. I have know idea what I would do with more than a few anyway. If I knew how I would share a video
Update,
The parents moved them again after my placo ate about half of them. The Angeles got him good in return. Tore up his tail fin a bit.
The little fry are starting to swim a little and the parents will catch them and put them back when they get to far away. I’m feeding them first bites and the parents will attack me as I do. It’s pretty amazing how protective they are.
Congrats on the angelfish fry. I would give the breeding pair their own tank if your goal is to have a lot of angelfish. Otherwise, it will be no good for any fish in the tank.
You can always give away the extra fry once they are bigger. If you have a local fish store, sell them to it. Or list them on cragislist, or facebook, or something similar.
By the way, you can't directly upload video onto the forum. But you can upload the video to Youtube first, then post the embedded link here. So you will have a video appear in your post. I look forward to see them.
